Mary Shawn (Reuter) McWhirter

Mary Shawn Reuter McWhirter, 63, of Fletcher, died Sunday, May 6, 2012, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. A native of Hudson, MI, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Janice (Schad) Reuter. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Patrick Reuter.

Shawn was an employee of Mission Health System for 30 years where she made lifelong friends. She loved life and all that knew her were enriched by her spirit. There will never be a smile with more joy than Shawn's.

She is survived by her husband of 26 years, Larry McWhirter; one daughter, Heidi (Paul) Connor; sister-in-law, Chresteen Reuter; nephews, Jameson Reuter, Jonathan Reuter and his wife, Elizabeth and their children, Amelia and Charlie, and Jacob Reuter and his wife, Susan, and their daughter, Autumn.

A graveside memorial service for Shawn McWhirter will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2012, at 11:00 a.m., at Calvary Cemetery in Hudson with Father H. Paul Ruddy officiating. A gathering for food and fellowship with the family will follow at the Hudson American Legion Hannan Colvin Post.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may direct memorial contributions to the Pat Reuter Education Fund.
